Participants, victims identified in fatal Placerville crash | News

PLACERVILLE - On Sunday, the El Dorado County Sheriff's deparment released the names of those involved in a major car crash that killed four people Saturday night.

According to the Sheriff's department, a Toyota Prius carrying a family from Oakland, crossed into oncoming traffic for an unknown reason and collided with a Toyota Sienna.

The driver and two passengers in the Prius were killed. A 10-year-old girl was the sole survivor. Her father Sheng Kun Su, mother Shu Zhen Zhao and brother Shawn Su were all killed in the collision. The sheriff's department says the daughter sustained moderate injuries and was released to extended family.

A 4-year-old Pollock Pines girl traveling in the Sienna was killed. Also in the vehicle was her mother Danielle Marie Temple, father Will John Temple and twin brothers John Maxwell and John James Temple. The two boys were uninjured in the crash while the mother and father suffered minor to moderate injuries. The CHP determined that the young girl was restrained in a safety seat at the time of the collision.

CHP continue to investigate what caused the Prius to travel into oncoming traffic.
