Man shot, killed by El Dorado Co. deputies identified | Crime

POLLOCK PINES, Calif. - El Dorado County sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a home on the 2900 block of Kimberly Lane in Pollock Pines Wednesday night, in response to a call of a suicidal man armed with a gun.
The El Dorado County Sheriff's Department said deputies arrived at the scene around 9:30 p.m. but the man had already left the home.
According to the Sheriff's Dept., deputies canvassed the area and located an armed man standing in the middle of the 6000 block of Pony Express Trail. At some point during the encounter, gunfire was exchanged and the man, later identified as Christopher Michael Sheldon, 38, of Pollock Pines, was fatally wounded.
The incident is currently being investigated by Sheriff's Coroner investigators and a team of investigators working under the El Dorado County Officer Involved Critical Incident Protocol.
